Personal Statement My Personal Outlook On My Life

â€Å"In this life you don’t need to prove nothin’ to nobody except yourself.† ~ Fortune. This quote from the movie Rudy was my senior quote. I found it was an excellent motivational quote. It can be applied to any and all aspects of life. In this manifesto, I am going to share my outlook on my values, perspective, and how to lead a successful life. Perspective is the most important attribute of leading a happy life. Life is not so much what happens to you but how you look at it. When I was a sophomore, I got a bad hip injury in cross-country. This experience, which I will share in this manifesto, changed who I am and how I look at life. After an injury stopped me halfway through the first cross-country race of the season, I made an appointment to see foremost expert on my specific injury. He told me I wasn’t able to run anymore, and I needed surgery. When you identify so strongly with something, as I did with running, it becomes a large part of who you are. In my mind, I was a runner first and foremost. Since I underwent surgery in the winter, I wasn’t able to run track in the spring. I had an even harder time with this because all of my friends were on the track team, so I had to watch as they progressed past where I had been. It is hard thing to go from being one of the best at something and then having to watch from the sidelines as your place is taken. When I finally came back to running, I was so eager that I just kept injuring myself.
